Those who photograph along the Jersey Shore, particularly in Ocean Grove where we know the photographers and poets who have those keen eyes and ears who study the surf and understand how it is constantly changing.
That is why we post pictures and poems about a subject that never stops moving and never stays the same, from one moment to the next.
We recently posted another end of day image at the Ocean Grove beach by Michael Goldfinger and now here he is again, at dusk, mesmerized by the same seashore which sometimes is at rest but other times is wild and unpredictable.
“…..that peace is brief, that the ocean seldom rests from surging, its song a protest against the night’s silence.”
From Charles Pierre’s poem “Bradley Beach at Midnight” from his book Father of Water (2008 Black Buzzard Press)

By Michael Goldfinger sports photographer for the Asbury Park Press. 2000. This photo was obtained when digital photography was in its infancy for newspapers. The cameras cost $25,000 and had less megapixels than an iPhone now.
Michael Goldfinger was a staff photographer with the Asbury Park Press. He specialized in sports, especially hockey.
He was prepared for this shot and the paper wanted their image of this moment to be published first. To do this they set up a digital camera with a phone link to the APP offices. He stood on a ladder. They held the presses pending this moment.
Michael got the shot and transmitted it to the Press; The presses were turned on, and this photo appeared earlier than any other news source. He shared the story and photo with Blogfinger.
A short time later, the APP merged their highly regarded photo department with the art department, and they closed their darkroom, moving totally to digital.
After leaving the Press, Michael Goldfinger changed careers and, while living in the Grove, he contributed images to Blogfinger whenever he could.

The Chelsea Market, which is referred to as an urban food court, is located in Manhattan—- 75 9th Avenue. The market fills two city blocks, stretching from 9th Avenue to 11th Avenue.
The Chelsea Market is much more then your average food court. Vendors here sell hand-crafted soups , breads, farm fresh vegetables , seafood , coffee, wine, and every type of meat cut you can imagine. Unique art work adorns the walls of this underground market, and city dwellers punch away on their iPads while munching on a freshly made lobster roll and sampling a glass of Merlot.
Check it out, enjoy people watching, but bring your credit card because nothing is cheap in the Big Apple.

He says why am I soft in the middle now
Why am I soft in the middle
The rest of my life is so hard
I need a photo-opportunity
