Stanley Cup. New Jersey Devils, by Moe Demby staff photographer APP. Goldfinger clan. Blogfinger staff. ©
The year was 2000, and Moe Demby, a photographer with the Asbury Park Press, was at the final playoff game to determine the winner of the Stanley Cup. His job was to get a shot of the cup being paraded around the ice by a New Jersey player.
The game was to end late, so the presses were held. Moe was standing on a ladder, using an early digital camera which cost about $25,000.00. Once the image was obtained, he was to phone it back to the APP offices, and then the paper run was completed.
The Press was the first newspaper to carry this image the next morning.
