Flowers were in her hair
Under an awning of silvery boughs we traded vows
The night that I sailed away”

THE BEATLES. Paul McCartney wrote “The Long and Winding Road.” in 1970.
He said, ” I like writing sad songs, it’s a good bag to get into because you can actually acknowledge some deeper feelings of your own and put them in it. ”
This sign was placed at the side of the road by the man who lived there. When he died, the new owners planned to remove it, but the neighbors prevailed on him to keep it. It is seen by many motorists every day no matter which direction they are headed, and, I imagine, it offers different messages to whoever glances in its direction.

“Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changin’ ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?”

Great White near the Camelia River in Tropicana Co-Op, Ft. Myers, Fla. Paul Goldfinger © January 2019.
The Great White is about 3 feet tall, a little shorter than the Great Blue. It has long black legs. It weighs a little over 2 pounds, but its wing span is 4 feet. Around the time when Ocean Grove was founded, the Great White Egret was endangered due to the needs of the hat industry. But it has come roaring back. It hunts for fish and small animals like frogs.
