Re-post 2025:

Says Jean,   “Today was the ultimate kazoo experience. If you want to have more fun than a barrel of monkeys, join the Kazoo band. We were greeted enthusiastically on every street…there’s nothing that compares to hearing Yankee Doodle Dandy played by over one hundred kazooers!!   Days Ice Cream Parlor sponsored us and fed us after the Parade with sandwiches, soda and ice cream!”

This kazoo lady attracts a lot of attention. She is talented, but she can’t play the kazoo upside down. Somebody get her an upside down cake.  By Prosper Bellizia, Blogfinger staff. © July 4, 2015.

From historian David H. Fox of the Historical Society of Ocean Grove:   7/2/23

“The use of Swan Boats on Wesley Lake has a surprisingly long history. The OGCMA authorized their use on 24 May 1889. They were presumably human powered as sail and steam boats were prohibited on the lake. I see there are a number of offerings in the current boats including swans, cranes, flamingoes, and even a dragon. Following the lead of Loch Ness, it seems every lake has to have some sort of monster.”

Malaina (R, age 4 on Saturday) and sister Addison (age 1) pose in Firemen’s Park. 7/4/19 Photo by Dad Adam Kuczynski © Special to Blogfinger.net

These two were enjoying a visit to the park with Dad on July 4, when Malaina Kuczynski spotted the planter with the flag. She went up to it, conjured up this pose, and asked Dad to take a photo.  He complied, and then one year old Addison joined the photo-shoot. for another take.

When we asked Malaina how old she was, she raised three fingers, but Dad showed her four, however technically Malaina was correct. Her birthday is on July 6.

The girls are visiting Gram’s house for the holiday weekend.

Introduction to Irving Berlin’s “God Bless America.”      Ms. Pracht’s beautiful voice blended with the Hope Jones organ. After this, the audience rose to join in singing Mr. Berlin’s loving tribute to America. Berlin was an immigrant who came here and magically understood the greatness of the USA such that he could write music like  this.

This performance was part of Mr. Turk’s organ concert, “Pipes and Stripes.”
