The Oceanic Inn on Kingsley Avenue in Asbury Park.  2015. Paul Goldfinger photo ©

2015 Re-post:     The Oceanic Inn is considered to be the least expensive place to stay in A.Park.  It is one block from the ocean and is near the Stone Pony and the Asbury Lanes.  Will throwbacks like this be kept alive as Asbury rolls into the 21st century?   How is that possible? It is prime real estate, but it also has value as an authentic piece of history in a unique Jersey Shore town.  Which value will society allow to prevail?

I guess we know.  After all, they tore down the Palace Amusements and dismantled the Carousel.*

February, 2022;  We have learned from the Coaster that the Inn will be torn down and replaced by condominiums. Only the memories will be left.

The Empress Hotel near the ocean in Asbury Park dates back to the 1960’s.  It was brought back to life and is now a centerpiece in the revived AP.  It is currently  (2015) undergoing a “spring spruce-up”

This image was originally posted on Blogfinger in the summer of 2016. And now, while we are on the subject of revealing bathing suits, let’s take a close look at this photo.

Sure the yellow suit is interesting, but it’s not everything it’s cracked up to be.  No this image also  tells us something about the broad-minded folks in A. Park.

Maybe we can borrow some mojo from the A.Park crowd and let’s nag the CMA until they grow some wider boundaries and offer a dog park or a dog beach in the Grove.  Sure you can take your dog on the beach in the winter, but it is in the prime season that we have huge numbers of dogs–resident and tourist owned.

And here is a musical tribute to the lovely woman in that yellow bathing suit:
