The Other Side of Asbury: Oceanic Inn–a relic from the rollicking early days of this “city by the sea.”

2015 Re-post:     The Oceanic Inn is considered to be the least expensive place to stay in A.Park.  It is one block from the ocean and is near the Stone Pony and the Asbury Lanes.  Will throwbacks like this be kept alive as Asbury rolls into the 21st century?   How is that possible? It is prime real estate, but it also has value as an authentic piece of history in a unique Jersey Shore town.  Which value will society allow to prevail?

I guess we know.  After all, they tore down the Palace Amusements and dismantled the Carousel.*

February, 2022;  We have learned from the Coaster that the Inn will be torn down and replaced by condominiums. Only the memories will be left.

The Palace was a place where millions of cherished memories were realized.

Indeed Mayfair was yet another great classic iconic Asbury place long gone but not forgotten . The illuminated stars on its ceiling were amazing .

Palace Amusements was a bit rinky-dink. The carousel off the boardwalk was a real treasure. But the greatest artistic, escape-reality loss was the Mayfair
    Theater.
