The cars were allowed back in on Sunday, midnight. Our article called “Unchained Memories” can be found with a BF search on top of the home page.
In that article I said, “On Sunday nights, before midnight, a festive atmosphere would prevail until the officer on duty allowed the folks to drive back into the Grove.” It was like a street fair every Sunday night. We could use some street fairs, but just for we the people of OG and our friends and relatives.
From 1914, it was Ocean Grovers parking their cars on Sundays in the neighboring towns. The tide has turned.
Wisher. Living at the North End as we do, we see what you describe daily. If you love a parade, that’s what we get as those Asbury Parkers stroll or bike their way to the nightlife across the bridge over noisy waters.
Coming back at two am they laugh, shout and converse their way back to their cars. Last night was especially loud due to a beer festival at the Bierhalle.
We Northenders try to ignore all this because we will find parking in the morning. We are not very demanding as we pick up the crumbs.
And what festive small town neighborly cultural events were planned for us Grovers yesterday?
Ocean Grove can do good by continuing to liberally serve Asbury Park interests, demonstrating the principle of Christian charity.
We can offer them free parking, both for customers, business owners, residents and anyone else with things to do in Asbury Park. An added bonus we can provide are lovely strolls though our historical neighborhoods after parking here, capped off by a charming walk across our Wesley Lake bridges.
The Asbury Park interests, should be our interests, in the name of Christian generosity. Our parking slots should be liberally and freely gifted and surrendered to demonstrate that it is better to give than to receive.
