By  Paul Goldfinger.

The light in the morning, soon after the sun comes up, lets you see after the darkness.  It is soft and new. It has promise.

You hold a cup of fresh, hot coffee and you breathe in the cool air. The sky is partially lit, and there is one area that is especially bright.

What piece of music would fit best to capture a mood that a new day may bring something wonderful?    Since the mood contains some uncertainty, I think it needs to be a little sad, just to avoid too much optimism.

This does it for me: Paul McCartney with Irving Berlin’s “Always.”

Tim: It’s one of those places just off Rt. 95 heading north. It was dawn—good hot coffee and gorgeous light. Hardly anyone one was there. The Waffle House was across the street where I stood and even that looked beautiful to me. There were some teenagers serving breakfast in there. It was sparkling clean, and their shirts were starched and crisp. They were happy, and their food was really excellent. You know, they stay open all the time, even in horrible weather. A beacon in a storm. —Paul

Fayetteville, NC. Been there many a time. Still live about two hours from there but haven’t been there lately. Can’t say I recognize that particular gas station but chances are I’ve driven by it. Thanks for the photo and all the news on Ocean Grove.
