Every year, Kenny Vance and the Planotones perform at one of the two Doo Wop concerts held in the GA. But this year there was only one, and Kenny and his Brooklyn men in black were missing in action.

But if you, like me, enjoy the amazing music of a senior citizen whose falsetto sounds just as good as it did over 50 years ago when he and his buddies locked themselves into a bathroom to look for an echo (or perhaps for a phone number,)  then this video can help for those of you suffering from a Planotone deficiency syndrome.

What you missed last night was Kenny’s familiar story of how he, at the age of 13, went to the Brooklyn Paramount for an Alan Freed R and R concert, and there he was blown away by a remarkable 13 year old Frankie Lymon, whose first hit was “Why Do Fools Fall in Love?”

I  don’t know how it was for a 13 year old in love in Brooklyn, but in Jersey, my friends and I were just noticing girls at that age, and all of of us were fools and none of us knew why.
