Bragging rights at the HOA: Reviewing their accomplishments in 2023. Is this a worthwhile organization to represent the residents of Ocean Grove? »

Modern OG history. Even 7 years ago (2017) the reticent HOA showed signs of life, but never came through: OGHOA considered opposing the North End Redevelopment Plan. Really?

Kennedy Buckley.   Last night, 12/21/17,  he challenged the Township Committee regarding the North End plan which threatens the future of Ocean Grove. Way to go Kenny ! Blogfinger photo 2013.

December 22, 2017:

In a surprise reversal, the Homeowners Association indicated last night that it may finally take the side of OG residents and ask the Township to nullify the Re-development Plan at the North End.

At the Neptune Township Committee meeting, OGHOA spokesman/trustee Kennedy Buckley demanded that the Township Attorney answer his question which was, “Can the Committee withdraw the North End redevelopment designation now?”

Gene Anthony, the Neptune attorney, said, “Yes.”

This surprise revelation indicates that the HOA might be amenable to accepting Blogfinger’s challenge regarding their history of siding with the Township on this issue.

This quote is from the Blogfinger post on December 19, 2017:   “The OGHOA should immediately cancel its support for the NERP and get behind the citizens in totally opposing such projects.  If the Township refuses to take us down a sensible road, then we will know where their loyalties lie, and the same applies to the Groaners.”

In a prior survey of public opinion on Blogfinger, January,  2016, we asked the question:  “Is it time for the Township Committee to scuttle the illegal North End Redevelopment Plan?”

250 votes came in, and 80% said “YES.”

So congratulations to the Home Groaners for finally standing shoulder to shoulder with the residents of the Grove who want the North End zoning to revert back to single family homes only.

UPDATE:    Editor’s note. Blogfinger.  3/11/23.    “Unfortunately, the Groaners never came through; not even to now.  Our article was just a dream:”

Kennedy Buckley discussed this subject on another social media site, and he said:

“A couple of years back I had asked the Township Atty. if the action the then Neptune Township Committee had taken declaring the North End blighted and in need of redevelopment could be reversed. He answered: yes, by a vote of Committee.

“Last night, Dec. 21, 2017, after some discussion of nothing happening re the redevelopment, I asked the Neptune Attorney the same question.

” I had to repeat it THREE times, but after some hemming and hawing, he finally said YES.

“Then I suggested to the NTC that they should start discussing that possibility PUBLICLY in order to motivate the reluctant parties involved. Such a threat might give them a kick-in-the-a** to do something. Maybe!”

Editor’s note: So this statement by KB confirms that the questioning of the Township Attorney was indeed “a threat” coming from Buckley as a spokesman for the OGHOA, indicating his desire for the Committee to “do something.” The regular spokesman who usually speaks for the HOA was absent,so KB filled in.

It should be a free space. parking, and a park. This is especially important because Asbury Park steals parking. So a parking lot devoted to Camp meeting Association events is sorely needed.. This is a historical place of peace and Christian values. Commercializing of it would be a mistake.

Even single family homes shouldn’t be approved at the North End. Put up a much needed parking lot instead. At $5.00 or $10.
00 a car Neptune would rake in tons…

    Good job Ken!
I hope the OGHOA membership and the new 2018 Township Committee support you on this.

It’s time to ‘WAVE’ goodbye to the NERP.

When the attorney Gene Anthony was addressing the HOA question posed by Kennedy Buckley, he also volunteered that although the Committee could reverse the NERP now, “They don’t want to.” He also said that the NERP, which has been languishing since 2007, could remain in this state of dormancy indefinitely.”
