It’s a sunny fine autumn Sunday morning in Ocean Grove. Unlike Asbury today, the Grove side is quiet and lovely. I wanted to photograph someone in front of that “Today I Can do Anything” sign, and then I noticed Nick standing near me with a camera in his hand.
Wow! Hardly anyone carries a real camera anymore except for photographers. It turns out that Nick is a photog who was about to take my picture (a rare event) as I walked by. He liked my hat, believe it or not—a photo artist after my own style.
So he reluctantly posed for me. As you know, I try to avoid posed portraits—that’s Coaster territory, but this photo was special because Nick is a new Grover. He moved here yesterday with his girlfriend and he works for Ocean County.
As I have pointed out, the demographics in the Grove are changing, and I have documented a number of new young people coming here despite the allure of A. Park. You can search Blogfinger and look under “New Grovers.”
So we talked a little photography and I gave him a BF card and an invitation to submit some great images from town.
Going through the Casino into Asbury we saw a large group of mostly young people doing a fund raiser on the Parker boards, and that is exciting for them, but Nick is a Grover now and worth paying attention to.
