Many farmers’ markets in NJ will not reopen in 2020, but one of our favorites, the Saturday Sunset Avenue market in A. Park is supposed to open starting June 20, 2020,  from 8-1.   (source: APP)

Eileen used Jersey beefsteak tomatoes this morning which came from Matt’s Market on RT 71 Wall/Belmar,  along with the lovely scallions.

The sausage are from Wegmans.  They are organic chicken “caprese” which are very good, containing mozzarella, basil and tomato.  They come fully cooked, needing a little browning on a sauce pan with little fat.

Farmers markets used to offer low prices, but that is less true today, however they do offer the promise of produce picked within 24 hours of display.  The scallions have a wonderful fresh-picked aroma and taste,and Matt’s will have tomatoes into October.
