The original 1879 plan for the North End, by Dr. Elwood Stokes, was for 26 single family houses on large lots.
After his death, the CMA scrapped Stokes’ plan in favor of the 1909 North End Complex Plan.
We now have the opportunity to get it right. As lyrics from the play Hamilton suggest, “History has its eye on us.”
Those were the days……and the North End of Ocean Grove was a place to be any night of the week to see the who’s and who’s staying at that magnificent North End Hotel; then strolling into all that wonderful family entertainment in Asbury Park. but alas it has seen its time and faded with the sands of time.
So why all we still maintaining the cemetery grounds for the North End Hotel 38 years after its demise? At the very least it could be a park.
