Setting: Eileen is looking out our window onto Delaware Avenue. A woman is walking her two dogs on our grassy strip. Eileen steps out onto the porch and speaks to the dog walker.
E.: Could you not let your dogs do their business on our grass?
DW: I’m cleaning it up.
E: The urine kills the grass.
DW: I’m doing the best I can.
E.: That’s why you have the dogs on a leash.
DW: Well, it’s not really your grass–it belongs to the town.
E.: I am responsible for the grass. We grow the grass and we take care of it.

Dog walkers in OG are a disgrace! I switched from grass to plants..but they walk there anyhow..Calling owner on it results in nastiness usually and/or “my dog is on a leash”
A on B’way
I walked my dog here for many years till she passed away in Novemeber. A resident on Pilgrim Pathway asked me to stop letting the dog go on his grass. I said sorry and never walked in front of the man’s house again. So that strategy worked. I water off my grass all the time and it’s ok. I’d rather have dogs than grass. But no #2!
I totally agree OhGee. A dog occasionally urinating on your grassy strip is not worth getting your feathers ruffled about. Besides, OG is a very dog friendly community and we just need to accept a yellow spot now and again.
My home is on a corner lot, so I have more grass strip than most. I also own a dog. For me, its a choose my battle wisely scenario. So I don’t bother being concerned with urinators. I give the grass some extra water instead, and it helps. Corner lots are high-traffic areas for all pedestrians, 2 and 4 legged. , That’s just the way it is. What does anger me are the owners who don’t pick up the #2’s. That’s just plain gross. The guilty parties are 99% summer clientele. Renters, tourists, and parents who give little Joey the responsibility of walking the dog. Those caught in the act – I have had no problem raising my voice & causing a scene. They are either too embarrassed to return, or they think I’m crazy and avoid my home.
