Ted Bell photo of the once elegant Park View Inn i (third floor) in Ocean Grove,NJ. Click to view the shingles)
The photo is from historian Wayne T. Bell . Shirley Bell’s family used to own the infamous Park View Inn on Sea View Avenue. Supposedly that building will be torn down to make way for four controversial single family home sites, two of which will be on Lake Avenue. Let’s hope that the buyers of those lots won’t be looking at parking meters and two way traffic. If any of you know the current status of the Park View deal, please comment below.
Regarding the photo above, Ted says, “The covering shingles were removed in December 2015 with the ones in the photograph installed in the late 1920’s–as best we can estimate.
“Many years from now, when they remove the present vinyl boards, they will be commenting on what the removal has exposed—the cycle goes on.”
Editor’s Note: Ted: Is the above comment made with tongue in cheek? Please explain the “many years from now” reference. —-Paul (Editor in chief)
