Ocean Grove South End Pier, 19th and 20th century views.

February 24, 2014 by Blogfinger

We asked for photos of the pier from about 5-10 years before today, but our request inspired two FOB’s  (Friends of Blogfinger) to help us out with some fun historical imagery.

Submitted by Gil Weeden of Ocean Grove.

July 1993. Ocean Grove after 1992 Nor’easter. Submitted by William Heatley of Ocean Grove.

“Above  photo taken in July 1993 showing the destruction/remnants  of the pier after the December 1992 storm.   In photo left to right: Cathy Cooper, Alex Lamis, Carol Boniello, William Heatley, Kathryn Doyle, Clara  Church, Tom Hillman.

“Note: Ralph had  just been installed that  day.”   (per Wm.Heatley)

Editor’s note:   There seems to be a relationship between the continuity of the pier and the continuity  of the clothing worn on the beach.  —Also, this is the 2,900th blog post to be published on Blogfinger since its founding in 2009. —-Paul Goldfinger. Editor
