The Crimes of Summer: Bikes, a purse and a boogie board

August 22, 2012 by Blogfinger

Neighborhood Watch reports two recent thefts of bicycles, one near 30 Ocean Pathway and the other near 130 Lawrence Avenue.

An unattended purse was stolen from a car in the area of New York Avenue and Clark Avenue.

An unattended bag disappeared from the beach.

And an unsecured boogie board was stolen from the area of 80 Webb Avenue.

Police also reported the theft of two equality flags from Ocean Grove homes, one in the 70 block of Webb Avenue and one in the area of 82 Webb Avenue. However, we know of a third flag that went missing from a home on Heck Avenue; that one evidently wasn’t reported to police. All three flags are thought to have been taken around the same time on Saturday evening.

We are the Broadway neighbors missing our porch sea horses. We are disappointed and feel violated. We tried to add value to the community with our home improvements and are sadden that this happened when we were gone for less than a week. A sad testimony to our community. Did we invest in the wrong place???????????

We had something stolen from our garden this past week as well. The value was priceless because it was a souvenir from a trip we took a few years back. It can not be replaced. I am really mad!

A police report was filed today for two pieces of artwork stolen from a porch on Broadway. They are “sea horses” and each is about two feet high. The value of the two items is 600 dollars. I am posting this for my neighbor who was the victim of this theft. It happened sometime between the 17th and the 22nd.
