TO THE EDITOR:

Dear Dr. Goldfinger:

I have been reading your Blogfinger medical articles in Mumbai and I like them very much. I am a healthcare provider in the Indian National Health System. I have a company that offers low cost end-of-life services which, I believe, can save your Medicare program a great deal of money.

Please forward my email and my photo to whoever is or will be in charge of planning for reduced costs under Medicare.  Please like us on Facebook and tell your friends.

Thank you,

May 30, 2012

I’ve been quiet during the past few months, but feel I must correct some misinformation which has been posted on this blog and publically stated by elected officials.

First, the Administrator position was not posted by the Neptune Township Committee.  In December 2011, the Township Committee created two new jobs:  “Assistant Business Administrator”, a part-time position created by the Committee in December 2011 with a salary range of $10,000-$85,000 with no benefits and a “Police Director” position with a range of $60,000-$120,000.  These two positions were created by salary ordinance 11-48 (http://www.neptunetownship.org/upload/documents/2011Clerk/Legals_121211.pdf).

The Assistant Business Administrator job was posted in February 2012 (posting: http://www.neptunetownship.org/news/2012/02/08/job-posting-asst-administrator-part-time)

The position was not advertised twice like Committeewoman Jahn states; it was posted one time for about a three week period; one week after the posting, the posting was amended to reflect “Residency Preferred” instead of “Residency Required”.

I was contacted by the Township and scheduled for an interview for Tuesday, March 20th. See http://www.neptunetownship.org/news/2012/03/20/special-meeting

I was called on March 19th and told the interviews will be postponed and I will be contacted with the rescheduled date for the interview after Easter.  On Saturday, March 24th, the Democratic Executive Committee met and voted not to endorse Jahn for re-election (and I did not have a vote at that meeting).  On Monday, March 26th, the same night Bishop/Jahn did not re-appoint Nick Williams to the Housing Authority (a 10-year member), the Committee decided not to interview me and I subsequently received a certified letter.  These actions were clearly retaliation for Jahn not getting the support of the Democratic party.

I do not understand why I am the villain for applying for a part time job with no benefits.  I am the only applicant (out of 24 who applied for the job) which some members of the Township Committee continue to bad-mouth; three months after the job posted ended.  Jahn at the OG homeowners meeting Saturday did not want to discuss the two other candidates running for Committee since they were not there; but she was compelled to again bad-mouth me at the meeting.

Vito is a good guy and I wish him the best of luck in the part-time position.  I don’t fault him at all.  But our elected officials owe it to the public and to applicants who apply for positions that they will not be ridiculed and bad-mouthed just for applying for a position.  Make your decision and move on.

The negative and vindictive actions by Jahn over the years, and especially during this personnel matter is the reason I, and many individuals are not supporting her re-election.  Look at her facebook postings; look at how she attacks residents on this blog who do not agree with her – those are the reasons Jahn’s support is limited.

Sincerely,

JAMES MANNING, JR.

To the Editor:

I thought the only bad thing that could happen to me on the beach would be not to find shells for my collection:

A big surprise this morning.

I delight every morning at the prospect of letting my 2 rescue dogs run free and have fun on the beach with me soaking up the beauty of it all.

There seems to be an unwritten code with dogs on the beach.  Leash your dog if it is not friendly and beware…Let your dogs run free if they are the social and friendly type.

This morning was a shock.

My dog Roxy Girl was attacked by a PIT BULL…the lady who  was the owner did not have her girl pit bull on a leash and it went right for my dogs… my dog Roxy was caught in the pit bull’s mouth and it was attacking the neck… the dog owner lady could not get her dog free of my poor dog… I screamed with horror to have her get her dog off… she was trying but could not for a long time. I feared the worst after she struggled to free my dog.

There was no blood that I could see… I carried her off the beach to examine her more closely. .. it appeared that she was scared and no blood.

The dog owner,. a lady with blondish hair, got her dog and left the beach… heading up towards Pitman … I was so shaken by this event that I can no longer be free of worry for fear a stupid dog owner that has a fierce dog will attack in the future.

Please find a way to tell the story and locate that woman and her attack pit bull dog.

The dog was tan and white… a long tail and I think it was a girl dog.

Please warn all unsuspecting dog owners.

To the Editor:

Hi Paul and Staff,

Please add me to your email list to keep me up to date with the events in our beloved Ocean Grove.

I am a teacher in Fort Lee, NJ and live in Park Ridge, NJ while school is in session but…the very day school is finished, I move to my home in Ocean Grove for the summer.  I would not want to be any place else.  We have owned our home in Ocean Grove since April 2001.  We are sporadic weekenders throughout the school year due to our many commitments in North Jersey.

Prior to our purchasing our home in O.G., we spent every 3 day holiday weekend in here.  We loved staying in the Ocean Plaza but when the opportunity to buy came along, we jumped on the chance to become homeowners. We never regretted our decision.

My daughter and my two granddaughters are able to spend the summers here with me.  My husband commutes to his office in Dumont…he owns an insulation company so he never has to ask the boss for a day off!

I am so glad that I went into Smugglers Cove and found out about your blog.  I look forward to being one of your followers and keeping my finger on the pulse of Ocean Grove.

Thank you,

Diane Henry

Hi,

Please join us for a showing of God’s Square Mile. It is a documentary film about Ocean Grove and how both sides view the controversy of the Camp Meeting Association’s denial of our application to use the boardwalk pavilion for our civil union ceremony. Luisa and I are featured throughout the film. Rachel Julkowski is a wonderful young woman who produced this very fine film. Please log on to the web site below to order tickets.

Garden State Film Festival

SHORT SYNOPSIS:   (From the GSFF website)

“God’s Square Mile” tells the candid story of a town unwilling to compromise its beliefs in love, faith, or community. From the undeveloped sand dunes, scrub oak, and sea of the 1869 Jersey Shore to present day Ocean Grove, New Jersey’s billowing American flags and prohibition against the sale of alcohol, this film examines Ocean Grove’s work in cultivating a precarious balance between preserving its Christian heritage and embracing diversity.
CAST: Harriet Bernstein, Luisa Paster, Reverend Dr. Richard Twidle, Reverend Scott Hoffman, Joseph Krimko, and Wayne T. Bell.

TRAILER:

Editor’s Note: The Garden State Film Festival will occur the first weekend in April.  This film will probably be controversial and of great interest to Ocean Grovers.

“God’s Square Mile” is 35 minutes long and will be featured  on April 2, along with several other films.  Already it sounds much more stimulating than “Greta.”  The word on the street is that it is a “tribute to the community of Ocean Grove.”  We are hopeful.

Blogfinger will review this documentary,  and Grovers who see the film will be able to comment on the blog.  Thanks to Harriet for alerting us to this important event.
