The Battle of the Bulge. 101st Airborne was surrounded.

December 26, 2025 by Blogfinger

The soldiers of the 101 were trapped in Belgium in Dec. 1944. They hadn’t slept indoors in a month, and finally they found shelter in a church. Still image from Band of Brothers by Paul Goldfinger. Blogfinger.net

The soldiers were exhausted, sitting and sleeping in the pews while a  girls’ choir (above), conducted by a nun, played soothing Christmas music.

Outside the worst winter in years raged.  Easy Company was heroic during the 6 months since D-Day. But they had lost many men, and the survivors, about 60 soldiers, carried on.
