The soldiers were exhausted, sitting and sleeping in the pews while a girls’ choir (above), conducted by a nun, played soothing Christmas music.
Outside the worst winter in years raged. Easy Company was heroic during the 6 months since D-Day. But they had lost many men, and the survivors, about 60 soldiers, carried on.
