Modern OG history—2014. Just Wondering: “What hump?”*

Letter from “Sleepless on Broadway:”     The hump “nightmare” on Broadway is affecting our quality of life and has turned into a never ending noisy nightmare. Approximately 2 of 5 cars/trucks slow down a bit; the rest race through. The noise is continuous; sleep is impossible! My house shakes whenever buses/ trucks and “loaded” vehicles pass.

Those who slow down..then accelerate through the dangerous Pennsylvania Av. intersection..just what the “hump” was put there to prevent! How can we protest this?..unacceptable for me and neighbors!

* Editor’s note:    Sorry Sleepless, but this line is from Mel Brooks film  “Young Frankenstein” when someone asks Igor about his hump.   —PG

Sleepless: The township has plans for more noisy humps, including, I believe, some more in the Grove. OG will not be a hump-free zone. And by the way, the Broadway hump is really pleural, because there is one on the west bound lane–a matched pair of humps on Broadway. The Township engineer is a she–not a he, and her name is Leeann Hoffmann 732 988 5200 ext 228 —Paul @Blogfinger

Everyone has seemed to make a joke out of this..how about a way to make B’way safe without ruining lives of a few? Where can I go with this? No other “humps” in residential areas..how can I get our town engineer to spend a few hours here..to see how he’d enjoy living in my home??

Joe. The answer to your first question is yes. And for the second it is no. BLOGFINGER is a place where people can have a forum to express opinions including complaints and to be heard by many others. Where else does that happen?

But the frequency of complaints vs those who read this blog is far less than .5%.

However in ISIS land the frequency of complaints is zero. I should point out that your comment is also a complaint.

    So everyone complains about speeding

Town installs something to reduce speeding

    People complain

Is anyone ever happy in this town? Or is it always one complaint after another?

Instead of the hump how about a regular speed trap on Broadway? Make money for the township, and let these poor folks get some sleep.

Close that section of Broadway so no one goes over that eyesore. Cover it with topsoil, grow some grass, put in some flowers, hedge or two, bird bath and you might as well call it a park.
