A well known photographer once told me that if I looked into my viewfinder and considered an image which I have photgraphed in the past then I should pass on that photo and move onto something else.
But I disagree with that. Andrew Wyeth, the famous artist painter from Pennsylvania grew up in farm country, in Chadds Ford. Near his family home was a farm owned by a German immigrant–Kuerner’s Farm. Over the years, Wyeth created about 1000 works of art of that farm. Here is a BF link about Wyeth:
Around here is Faith Baptist Church in Ocean which I have photographed before many times. George Tice, the famous New Jersey photographer said that he could spend the rest of his life photographing in Patterson, NJ.
I have photographed the Allenhurst water tower in all sorts of light and angles. Today I liked the gray, rainy light for taking this photo from the front in town instead of my usual angle from Interlaken across the Deal Lake branch.
It has a haunting quality which I tried to capture. It turns out that the tower is historic and nearly 100 years old, and it is threatened for destruction by a redevelopment project which would transform Allenhurst. A short distance away is an Osprey nest.
But there is more to the water tower story…
