OGHOA changes its name and changes its mind in 2025, but what will this subterfuge actually accomplish?

January 20, 2025 by Blogfinger

Feb 25, 2023. An  HOA “forum” where the CMA was attacked. Paul Goldfinger photograph. The OGHOA wants  to get bigger, but will their values grow similarly? Did they ever apologize to the CMA?  Click once to enlarge.

Today  January 11, 2025, the HOA sent out an email to announce that they have changed their name to: “Ocean Grove Community Association.”

In conjunction with that name change they announced that they will accept “long term renters” (those living in OG for at least 12 months) as members because they want a “broader membership.”  They say that their “voice will be stronger.”

You should read their explanation of this name change and their decision to include renters as members.  See if you think that this will accomplish anything more for residents of the Grove.  After all, they never before  acknowledged the existence of our  large demographic  of residents who are secular including renters.

And of course they supported the  North End Plan until recently, and they have done an awful job of working with the CMA and of addressing many issues which we have tried to advance on Blogfinger.

You might recall the horrendous attacks against the CMA at their meeting on February 25, 2023; not so long ago. We plan to repost that and other mementos to remind you  of what else they are capable of including below:  the HOA’s review of their accomplishments in 2023.

Blogfinger.net  had suggested the renter/member idea many times in the past.

But you have to wonder what, if any, good will come of this. Or will it be all talk and no action.   Will a new name and a new plan to get bigger result in any solutions for OG?   Or is this merely a fund raising scheme?

I think they changed their name so that I will have nothing to rhyme with “groaner.”

You can go to their web site for more information now. They say in their email that their web site is “theOGCA.org”.  And they have a motto, “The Consistent Challenge in Ocean Grove.”   Sounds pretentious given their past history.  And what happened to their aforementioned “mission?”

“The mission of the OGHOA is to protect and enhance property values and the quality of life in Ocean Grove.”

Here is their new URL:

theOGCA.org

If they ever accomplish  any current serious results in this town, we will give them credit.  But meanwhile we may have to find a new nickname.

If you want to offer an opinion you can by clicking on comments below or by submitting an email.
