Men at work worth doing…

A crew was busy on Delaware Ave. between Mt. Hermon Way and Mt. Tabor Way.   They are replacing water pipes, and it is arduous work, but they were deeply engaged and enthused.

These workers seemed to have a sense of satisfaction.  Theodore Roosevelt said, “Far and away, the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.”

One worker rang our door bell to tell Eileen that the water would be shut off for about two hours.  He told her that this work is to prepare for paving the streets.

He also said that this project  would create better water pressure and quality and that the water company would like all home owners to eventually change from 3/4 inch copper pipe to one inch. Lots of luck with that.

The workers  meticulously cleaned up afterwards.

Many great men have written about  hard work,  but how about the advice that Fagin gave his boys  (from Oliver):
