The North End never in its history was used for housing of any sort except for a tent colony on its western section. I suspect this lack of precedent is likely the cause of much debate.
Obviously, the Association wants to maximize its return on the property by building as much as possible. However, the proposed condos are completely out of place and really do not look “Victorian,” which is the goal of the HPC.
The proposed hotel is stylistically better than some existing hotels with clunky additions on top of the verandas. It is quite true that these do not have roof decks. I never understood the fear of the invisible underground garage. Some claim there will be ground water pollution, but the garage will likely have floor drains into the sewer. This is actually better than parked cars leaking on a street. Roof water flowing into the lake would actually improve it.

I hope and pray that this will happen. They should put Carol Rizzo ( she ran for Freeholder this past election) on the board. She is an outstanding Ocean Grover and an awesome neighbor.
With the 2016 Committee’s new Mayor Kevin McMillan, and Deputy Mayor Dr. Michael Brantley, I believe the Township Committee has never been more aligned to correct many of the past Committee’s mistakes.
