Modern OG history: 2021 Independence Day Parade: Short but sweet—-and dry. Many “marchers” didn’t show, but everyone had fun.

July 3, 2024 by Blogfinger

Editor’s note:   We don’t know how the Saturday, July 6,  2024 edition will be, but here is the Blogfinger report on the July 3,  2021 edition.  Tomorrow  July 4, 2024  is the  actual holiday, but we will report on the latest version.  Small town America in action.

Rain was predicted and it definitely prevented some “marchers” from showing up. We estimate that nearly 50% were “no shows.”   But the crowd, although smaller than usual, had a great time, especially the kids and the families.  We saw smiles all over; applause, cheers and good cheer , candies flying and flags flying.

I got whacked in the head with a pack of candy, and when I turned around, this is what I saw.  Many fire trucks attended the parade.  Paul Goldfinger photo.

OG Summer Band—the closest thing to a marching band in the parade. The Kazoos stayed home.   Was Sousa rolling his eyes? This group did fine.

UPS truck couldn’t get through, but the package did.

Moms: Don’t let your sons grow up to be cowboys. Party time on this OG porch, with a real cowgirl to add pizzazz. She wins for the Blogfinger.net centerfold.  Click for the details.

Star studded. Are we getting some more states?

Kids loved it: big trucks, sirens, candy, bright lights and sights. Main Avenue , OG
