Erin and James are Grovers as well as supporters of Blogfinger. We are in Firemen’s Park for this photo. They are professional bakers who will soon be opening their own shop in Bradley Beach, and that will be something to look forward to if you are aware of their amazing work. We will cover their opening. Paul Goldfinger photo 6/23/24. morning.

It started early as we knew it would. Professional “pickers” showed up with targeted visits. They weren’t interested in Eileen’s pottery or my CD’s. They wanted gold, silver, jewelry and military coins or materials. I have my Navy officer’s sword which I keep in my bedroom in case the Barbary pirates decide to attack again. But I won’t give that up.
Officially the 13th Annual Blogfinger Town-Wide Yard Sale began at 9 am, and there was a rush of shoppers. We had 26 sites registered, and 6/21 and/22 produced nearly 1,000 BF hits each day, mostly seeking information about the sales. So our promotions worked.
This 2024 sale was the most active in some time. We had all ages, and many arrived on bicycles, motorized cycles or on foot. Parking and the living was easy. Visitors liked our Internet list of sites with addresses, OG map, and items for sale; and most were using their phones for that; some had printed the list and maps.
We spoke to BF reporter Jean Bredin who was participating in a 3 family sale on Heck Avenue. She was ecstatic. “The sale didn’t stop all day..the planets lined up.” Jean said, “It was great!”
And Jean should know because she is a “garage sale girl,” having done a yearly sale for many years which she used to “purge” stuff and make room to buy more stuff.
As usual the shoppers tried to pressure the sellers to lower prices, and we did sometimes, but our prices were already generously fair.
My rough estimate was that about half were from out of town and the rest–Grovers. We love to chat with our visitors who were generally smart, cheerful and well informed, although not necessarily big spenders.

A number of our visitors were Bradley Beachers. Their Saturdays are always like this. For us this day reveals how all our summer Saturdays should be. No giant events of any kind. Blogfinger.net Paul Goldfinger photo
I was showing some of my photos, and a photographer/ college “educator” and archivist complimented my work and will be coming over to have a look at our extensive photo book collection
A young woman from NYC bought a print of Domme, France. Here is a link to see which image she chose. The photo is from a photo shoot which produced a photograph that was shown in an art show at the Monmouth Museum a few years ago.

Also, visiting our sale, was David Fobair who lives in Brooklyn and OG. David owns the shop “Dazlart”. (“Art, collectibles, cool stuff”). David had had visited our sale in the past, and he ventured out into the heat today to look for more cool stuff.
I think we sold more yard sale items than ever before, and we love the yard sales because it is truly a social event. We spoke to everyone.
Did any of you have some yard sale adventures? Please share. Comment below or email Blogfinger@verizon.net

Jean. Did anyone buy your vintage pink undergarments?

Paul,
Thank U for organizing the OG townwide yard sale yesterday. It was a perfect day in the neighborhood and everyone had so much fun. Our basement is finally getting empty! Our sales went through the roof. Yippee.
Let’s do it again next summer. We met so many great neighbors. And made lots of folks happy including us. Hope you had a good time. See you around the neighborhood.

They came by in droves!!
Bicycles, skateboards, cars, and people walking!
As we were setting up at 8 AM there were early callers.
People never stopped coming.! They were cheerful and chatty.
Year after year doing this sale, you remember faces. I’m particularly fond of this mother and daughter…This year Mom brought HER Mom. Three generations! I told the how lucky they were.
I sat there til 3pm. Two ladies turned the corner and bought 5 of my vintage pink wine glasses as I was closing shop!!
It really was a very nice day!
