Over the years, dating back to when the Quaker Inn was build in 1875, the records show a mystery about that address. The Quaker Inn went by other names in its history, and at one point its address of 39 Main Avenue was listed as 37 Main, the address of the property which is now being razed.
Also the Quaker Inn was originally the second property in from the corner with Central Ave. (see map below)

The one family at 37 Main was advertising rooms for rent in 1889.
We ran a series of articles about the Quaker Inn in 2021. You can search for those by typing “Quaker Inn” into our search box on top. It’s all about the mystery of the Inn, and #37 was mentioned.
I recently was trying to speak to the owner of the Quaker for some information. He said he was “one of the owners” but he was rude and wouldn’t help me. Is it possible that the Quaker owners have some plans for the property formerly known as #37?
Here is Neil Sedaka who used to be a regular at the OG Doo Wop shows. I once saw him pull up at the GA in a long limo. He got out of the car, looked around, and then rode on. He looked like he was 5 feet tall. Sedaka sang this song at his show that night.
“Comma, comma down.. etc ”
