I was photographing the Halloween kids who showed up for treats at our house on Mt. Hermon Way while it was still daylight. You would think that such a character would come after dark, but no, not really, because after dark it is altogether too risky for parents and kids.
But when this little horned devil appeared, she had her eyes on Stephen and the porch candy, so she moved quickly and I got one exposure— a lucky shot perhaps.
But actually, much goes into a successful photo that might make it worthy, but we will discuss that some other time.
During the “Arts on the Porch” celebration this year, we had one visitor who showed up on our porch and purchased a print of this image. What to call it? Photographers often don’t title their work, but I liked “Devil Girl.”
However, two years later someone told me that this character is from a 2014 Disney movie called “Maleficent.” She is an “evil fairy” also called, “Mistress of All Evil.” Angelina Jolie wore this costume, but our own version lives here in the Grove.
