Irma Thomas with a remembrance from HBO’s Tremé. 2020.

April 25, 2023 by Blogfinger

Watch the trailer below of Tremé, an amazing HBO series about post-Katrina New Orleans.

A third season will be released and then a short 4th concluding season. This show was wonderful in all its elements, but the story of New Orleans music and its musicians is thrilling and emotional.

PG, Thanks for another wondrous BF edition….very much appreciated!

BTW, while I liked Treme, my favorite New Orleans series was earlier…,maybe 30 (?) years ago. It’s called “Frank’s Place” and is insightful about NO culture like Treme.

“Frank’s Place” had as its intro/ending theme a terrific rendition of “Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans”….where I learned this remarkable tune. Best version: by Louis A. Himself!

Thanks again for your unforgettable public contributions! …..Be careful! …..mel g.

Editor’s note: Thanks bro Mel. Wiki says, “Frank’s Place is an American comedy-drama series that aired on CBS for 22 episodes during the 1987-1988 television season. The series was created by Hugh Wilson and executive produced by Wilson and series star and fellow WKRP in Cincinnati alumnus Tim Reid.”

“Frank’s Place is the most recent show that ran for only one season that was nominated for the Prime-time Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series.”

TV Guide ranked it No. 3 on its 2013 list of 60 shows that were “Cancelled Too Soon”.

And, I also love “Do You Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans” but my favorite version is by Jack Teagarden, but I will send Louis out to you on Blogfinger…today.
