Did you know that there are still girl scouts? Well they appeared today like daffodils on the first day of spring–where? Spring Lake of course. There were more girl scouts and moms than strollers. They were setting up to sell cookies, twirling their dance routines and chattering. PG
Sing, whirl, shout and look
please
it’s spring when things
come out of their nook or
the brook and took ease
on the wing everything
and every ping ping we
should sing that it’s spring
so spring and shout
and unfurl your pout
no doubt, jeez
this rhyme I bring
this time in spring
so take your check book out
please
And look what else has
come out
to descry
not of sky
or a swirl of trout in a brook
or some stout brook trees
But oh my, do buy some
yum Girl Scout cookies!

TONY BENNETT. “Spring is Here.”
Loved the poem, Stephen! Reminded me of Ogden Nash.
