Antisemitic and anti-Israel two-sided fliers are being distributed around town and left on porches. The content is too vile and full of hate to reproduce. Someone already contacted the police.
The crudely prepared fliers are produced anonymously, so the cowardly perpetrators are unknown.

The Chamber of Commercials is sponsoring this Halloween event. But where is the word “Halloween? Is that now politically incorrect?
And why is the Township paying for this promotion using taxpayer money? The Neptuners never do anything unselfish for the Grove. What is their scheme? Maybe the trick or treat will be found in your next tax bill.

Thank you Lee and Barbara. Obsessed as I am about the rise of Nazi Germany, I see the echoes of Hitler’s murderous words in these flyers. Words can be propaganda—-telling lies to further a corrupt cause.
At least let’s be alert in our own town for the beginnings of what could become terror if such words were to take hold. We do have laws against hate speech. I believe our Police Chief Jim Hunt will be vigilant about this. —Paul

We read down and came across the yet second antisemitic rant story. Barbara and I continue to be horrified to hear that some among us are ignorant of our common humanity. We both work to fight this ignorance every day.

Regarding the incident which you mention, the police did not declare it to be a bias crime and the Anti-Defamation League also did not make a fuss about it.
If the home groaners association did have a meeting regarding anti-Semitism in the Grove, that would’ve been inappropriate, but the current situation is serious and worthy of further investigation.
I would bet that the perpetrators are not from Ocean Grove.
I’m not sure that the OG government of 1914 could be described as a “Borough Government” since it was part of Neptune Township. It had received a charter from the NJ Legislature to run the town, but it still paid taxes to Neptune and was not an independent municipality.
OG had received a a borough designation in 1925 that lasted just one year. During that year OG did have its own governance independent of Neptune.
In 1999 I met Joseph Krimko who was the Jewish mayor of Neptune Township. He told me that there were few Jews in town then; maybe enough to have a minyan (10 men for a service.)
Thanks to David Fox for finding these statements. Too bad we couldn’t have the opportunity to read President Ballard’s letter. It would have been unusual, I think, for the YMHA then to go public with any concerns about antisemitism. It must have been quite a provocative letter.

The Young Men’s Hebrew Association made public today a letter to Rev. Dr. Aaron E. Ballard, President of the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association, protesting against reflections on Jews in a public letter written by Dr. Ballard and condemning his remarks as tending to create racial differences and prejudice.

A few years back, I recall some cars were damaged in the Grove and this included painted swastikas. Some people thought that this was evidence of antisemitism coming to the Grove, while others tossed it off to mischief–presumably by kids. Don’t remember what the NPD had to say about this, but it did prompt a presentation and discussion at a homeowners meeting.
