Jersey tomatoes are back! We didn’t taste test yet.
July 16, 2021. We made our first visit of the season at Matt’s Market in Belmar. The Saturday Asbury Sunset Farmers’ market has not yet reopened. But Matt’s is overflowing with wonderful fruits and veggies. But the prices are going up.
Today we found Jersey corn for $.69 each or $6.99 per dozen. Wegmans is 5 corn for $2.00.
Avocados are $2.29 each, but $1.50 at Wegman.
Red bell peppers are $3.99 per pound.
Jersey tomatoes, jumbo beefsteaks for $3.59 per pound, although smaller ones cost less. Arkansas large tomatoes are $1.99, and they look nice.
Honeydew melons are $8.99 each.
Jersey Blueberries are $3.99 for a small pack.
Wide variety of plums:
If you go to Matts, take Memorial Drive and get on 35 south. Cross the bridge and then turn left on 71 south by the Windmill. Matt’s is at 1740 Rt 71 (on the left.)
