JP Gradone, COO of the OGCMA, has provided us with some detailed information regarding the home stretch to the finishing line for the Middle Beach Boardwalk.

If you have any questions, you can contact him at the CMA office on Pitman Avenue and Pilgrim Pathway:

“The Middle Boardwalk will officially open Thursday morning.  The beach access at Main Ave. and Ocean Pathway will be open with step guards as well.

“There are a few items that will be completed in the next few weeks, but will not hold up the operation of the boardwalk.  The first is a small area to the southeast of the Boardwalk Pavilion that is missing some Trex decking.  Due to some modifications that were made during construction, the contractor was short about a pallet of Trex decking.  It should arrive within a couple of weeks.  This area will be secured for safety to pedestrians.  Secondly, the railings for the east side of the boardwalk will not be in for a couple of weeks. The existing snow fence will remain in place at the eastern portion of the boardwalk to prevent access to the beach and provide a safe thoroughfare on the boardwalk.

“The area between Ocean Ave. and the Boardwalk has been hydro-seeded and fertilized to provide the proper ground stabilization for this area.  These areas have been secured by snow fence to prevent any pedestrian access.  We are asking everyone to help us by not walking in these areas over the next few months.  This will allow the seed to properly germinate and create a good stable ground covering.

“Beginning on July 7, our contractor will be making some minor repairs to three sections in the boardwalk north of the Boardwalk Pavilion.  The first repair will be in the area immediately adjacent to the north benches of the Boardwalk Pavilion.  This area will be closed during the repair process.  This will be the case for the other two areas of repair as well.  We do not expect this repair to take very long.”
