Storm News TidBits

November 3, 2012 by Blogfinger

1. Under proclamation from Governor Christie, an odd-even system of gas rationing will take effect at noon Saturday. License plates ending in even numbers can purchase gas on even-numbered days. Those ending in odd numbers, on odd-numbered days. Saturday is an odd-numbered day.

2. This is a notice from the Ocean Grove Citizen’s Patrol:
Due to the extreme darkness at night and the mention of looting, the OGCP
has asked its members to volunteer for shifts beyond their normal shifts.
At present, we have patrols on duty from 9-11 p.m., 11-1 a.m., and 1-3 a.m.
We are happy to do our part to protect Ocean Grove and to be additional
eyes and ears for the NTPD.

(If you are interested in joining the OGCP for a 2 hour shift once a month
please visit ogcp.org for an application.)

Thank you.

3. Get out more blankets, Grovers. The cooler weather that arrived on Saturday will continue through the week, according to the Weather Channel, with highs in the upper 40s and night-time lows in the mid to low 30s. Stormy weather is predicted on Wednesday and Thursday, with showers and high winds.

4. Reminder: residents rendered homeless by the storm and needing short-term housing must register with FEMA. Michael Oppegaard, Monmouth County’s emergency management coordinator, reports that people can be reimbursed for up to $96 per night for hotel/motel costs. This is generally paid out in 14-day increments, Oppegaard says. For contact info for FEMA, go here.

Thank you Jack Green Construction for offering your heavy equipment and workers to protect Ocean Grove both before and after the storm!
