I found info for contributions for OGCMA repairs from SANDY on their web site for the “Now and Forever” fund.

This link allows credit card donations as well as mail in.

My little OG home is not my primary residence. It flooded and I don’t have flood insurance and now I find that FEMA doesn’t help with secondary homes….any suggestions from anyone.

If you come to an intersection and the traffic light is not working, IT CONVERTS TO A FOUR WAY STOP, as if there were stop signs on all four corners. You don’t have the right of way, no matter how big one street is and no matter how small the other street. Other towns have temporary stop signs up, WHY DOESN’T NEPTUNE? It is a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt or worse at the interception of Rt 35 and Rt 33. Just stop signs at that one intersection would help a lot.

Best bet with firewood is to grab an axe and a pickup truck and head to The Hills. Plenty of downed trees that have been cut up and set at the curb

Looking for information on how the Cantor family in Neptune Township is. I don’t know the street but their daughter has studied piano with me via Skype for the last 2 years (I live in Massachusetts). If anyone has any info, please contact me at melissa AT onQpiano.com (replace AT with @).

I am a resident of Ocean Grove who grew up in South Jersey. Upon hearing the news that there was going to be a massive clean up effort on Saturday, I went to a favorite bakery in Westmont, New Jersey called McMillan’s Bakery. The owner was gracious enough to donate all of her baked goods to our Ocean Grove Community. We have rolls, Danishes, donuts, pastries that are absolutely amazing! I will be bringing them to Bishop Jane’s Tabernacle for all to enjoy before we begin our journey to reclaim out beautiful town!

As soon as there is a way to make contributions for Grove needs and/or Auditorium repair please let us know.

  10. on November 3, 2012 at 11:11 am No Damage

Helen – We were on Atlantic Avenue on Tuesday morning and there did not appear to be any damage to homes there. We have not been back because of the lack of power.

Any news about The Ocean Vista and the Herr’s? Ocean Grove has always been my favorite place to vacation. Always wished I had the money to buy one of the hotels or bed and breakfast home and live there. Wonderful place and wonderful people.

R.C said Asbury has power. Last I heard as of last night from a friend, most of Asbury still did not. Please confirm if you know anything!

Anybody know of anywhere relatively nearby where I can get firewood? Trying to keep my kids warm during this cold spell. No luck so far at Home Depot, Stop n Shop, Shop Rite, Walmart, or Wegmans.

Any news on electric? Asbury Park has it.

Editor’s note: Power is out in OG.

Neptune Twp. Public Works is tirelessly trying to clean up trees, branches, debris, in every section. All employees have been on duty non stop since the storm. Some of the workers have been on 16 hour shifts since Sunday. Residents should try and be patient as everything that can be done is being done.

I live on Embury and would be more than happy to check on Phyllis Quinn. A bit more information would be helpful. Address, desciption, etc…

I was told water never reached house foundations. Our condo building 4 Ocean n Atlantic and Seaview did fine. Only lost few roof shingles and basement dry for what can be seen w/o power

  23. on November 3, 2012 at 8:34 am Hang in there

BEACH EROSION: Based on the photo’s posted at this site it appears the beach is somewhat level now and no longer has a drop off but is not conclusive. Top layers of sand will certainly get displaced inland. It would be informative to see photos of Ocean Avenue and the beach looking in both directions to answer “OLDTIMERS” and other interested in the Beach. This is a great site and only goes to show how many care about this seaside town from around the country. Hang in there Groovers. Keep it coming Paul…………..

Anyone have information on Emmaus House. Located at 21 Main Ave, Ocean Grove?

  25. on November 3, 2012 at 8:31 am Stella Souder

My husband and I were married in 1999 in the chapel in Ocean Grove and purchased a condo in O.G. We had it for 3 years before selling to Judy. We have fond memories of dancing on the Boardwalk in the deep of the night. It would be freezing on New Years Eve and we would take a radio, tape, CD player with us, set it on a bench and dance the night away…What a wonderful and safe way to celebrate! Memories we have tucked away to draw on rather than the destruction we see on the videos. I do thank Paul at Blogfinger for the great pictures and emerging videos however, and wish everyone the best from Florida where we now reside. Thanks again, Stella
