By Eileen and Paul Goldfinger
Grovers have spoken about this idea in the past, but Blogfinger has actually succeeded in starting a tradition. On Saturday, May 12, the day before Mother’s Day, we will have a yard sale involving 16 addresses in the Grove. Some people are sharing addresses. The number can still grow—we have a week.
The Mother’s Day weekend is ideal for this event: the crowds have not yet appeared, the weather tends to be good, no major events are scheduled, and parking will be no problem. A few minor events such as an art show and a walkathon will add to a festive but uncluttered atmosphere in town. Rain date is May 19.
Blogfinger will post all the addresses and we will run ads in the Coaster and the APP, directing interested parties to get the list off the website. We will post a time of 9-5. Individual sale locations will offer copies of the list to shoppers. Committeewoman Mary Beth Jahn has offered to help publicize this event via the Township E-mail blasts.
You can still join in, right up to next Friday. Just contact Eileen Goldfinger at Blogfinger@verizon.net. Tell us your address and what sorts of items you will be selling. Don’t forget that a permit is required ($10.00 at the mother ship).
Our original article on OG yard sales attracted a great deal of conversation. You can review that at the link below.
OG town-wide theme song: It’s Danny Kaye. Maybe we can sell some of what he’s got.
Would love to join in but feel never-ending sewer construction on Broadway would present a safety problem! No workers today..maybe 10 hours total last week…what’s going on here??
Maybe I can find a replacement table and 2 chairs that were swiped from my house last week – of course, metal!
I love the illustration.
