MUSIC: Happy Fat Tuesday, Y’all!

February 21, 2012 by Blogfinger

Since Tuesday was Mardi Gras, and since New Orleans is one of my old stomping grounds, I went looking for some music appropriate to the occasion.

Dr. John is one of New Orleans’ musical saints, and Basin Street Blues is one of its classic songs. The good doctor takes some liberties with the lyrics — introducing a reference to “rice and beans,” for instance, but that’s OK. Mardi Gras is all about taking liberties.
