On the night of October 28, 2018, it was bleak outside with rain and wind, but it was perfect for  the pre-Halloween gathering  of the Ocean Grove witches coven. Miss Jeanie, herself a card carrying witch, attended the Heck Avenue meeting—it is an event where much frightening activities prevail such as howling at the moon, casting spells, drinking evil booze and posing for dark photographs.  The latter is always an uncertain phenomenon since sometimes the images come up blank.

Missie Jeanie Bredin was with the coven when those blackbirds decided to fly over to Firemen’s Park and try to stuff the gazebo with witches.  How many made it?

It is rare to photograph a ghost, but Blogfinger succeeded. This one flew down Heck Avenue in the Grove.  It may be a witch moving fast. They are in town.   Click to enlarge all photos.  Paul Goldfinger ©. Blogfinger.net. 10/27/18

We saw no fumes or evil smoke even though these witches are hot!  We asked them to look grotesque, but this coven  can’t help having fun.  It does look like they are howling at the moon for more wine that flows.  This was quite a night!  Only in America.

Every year, the Historical Society of OG celebrates the roles of women in our town including the Temperance League, the Suffragettes, and women in business.  But now, the local feminists can rejoice in the arrival of the Witches Coven which convened on Halloween night over on What-The-Heck-Avenue.  We don’t know what they were drinking  (true blood perhaps or  witches’ brew) but they were having a wild time.

We asked them, “What kinds of witches are you?”  They just cackled loudly and raucously in response.   They amused themselves by finding new names for Blogfinger, such as “Coldfinger” as they sang my theme song  and they threatened to “do bad things” to me.

There were over ten witches present, maybe 13, all dressed in black except for one in white  who was a good witch, or so she said, but the twinkle in her eyes said something else.  It shows that you can’t tell a witch by its color.  They also revealed a remarkable ability to all talk at once, laugh out-loud, and mug for the camera.

After midnight they are flying out on their brooms—-to Amazon.com, the home of the Amazon women.

And, in case these witches engage in forbidden nights, here’s Darlene Love:
