By Paul Goldfinger. Editor. Blogfinger.net. OUR LATEST “BRIDGEGATE” REPORT: 9/25/25.
Scroll down to find other articles about “BRIDGEGATE.”
Here are some QUOTES from the 9/25/25 COASTER. The front page article is all about the Neptune Township Committee’s passing a resolution to end the bridge gate closures, a policy in existence for 30 years: Note that only Committeeman McMillan voted NO.
a. “The practice has been a point of consternation for residents who have approached the Committee for several months hoping to discontinue the long time exercise that some saw as exclusionary”
Blogfinger: Bull! I demand to know which OG residents complained that the gate closures were “exclusionary.”
Do they mean racist? This is nonsense and if it turned up, it came from the mouths of WOKE Asburians who have nothing else to do.
b. “Gate closures have been supported by others claiming it was one tool the Township had in keeping adjacent Asbury Park visitors from using the northern most streets of Ocean Grove as a free parking lot”
This also is balderdash! Some suggested in the past that the gate closures might have inhibited Asburian parkers, but although such parking is a problem, the gate closures have little to do with that issue.
This Coaster writer, who presumably is a journalist, has made a scrawling mush of this story.
c. The Coaster piece quoted the Mayor of Asbury who was happy with the decision, but this decision is none of his business and he had nothing intelligent to say. The Asburians have no argument to use in this matter, and this mayor should go back to A.Park and focus on the many issues on his side of the lake.
The Coaster writer had no business interviewing Mr. Moor for his idiotic opinion. The fact is that most of the noise about gate closures came from the Asbury side, and there has been no serious argument to be made by them even now to warrant the resolution and its change in Neptune policy.
d. The writer decided that “some residents also spoke in favor of the action.” I want to know how many Grovers “spoke” in favor of the resolution, and what are their names? When Blogfinger took a poll of Grovers about this, the majority wanted to keep the closures. Where are the quotes from Grovers who opposed the resolution? (ie wanted to keep the locks). Did the writer try to get such information?
e. In 2019 , the Neptune Chief of Police told us that the closures definitely reduced crime around the bridges, on both sides, and no one quarreled with him. Why is there no statement from the NTPD for this article. Did this writer interview the NTPD? And why is there no quote from the OGCMA, an organization with significant clout at the Neptune Comedy?
f. The author quoted a Grover, Nancy Clarke, who supposedly said “A lot of Ocean Grove is not the community that it was 30 years ago. It’s much more of a welcoming community.” What an idiotic and disrespectful thing to say! Why did the writer use this biased quote. It is a statement that is not defined or backed by any data! Are there any other Grovers who share her argument? What are their names?
g. Another quote by an OG resident, Paul Kaplan also approved of the resolution, saying “It’s believed that the practice of gate closures has been such a point of contention that Asbury Park has been hesitant to work with Neptune Township over certain issues due to that.” Really Mr. Kaplan???
BF: The Coaster should have demanded that Kaplan tell us what “certain issues ” he is talking about. Without such facts, this ridiculous and illogical innuendo should have not been included.
h. The journalism of this front page Coaster piece is pathetic. Where is a quote from the Neptune Chief of Police? And where are some quotes from the Neptune Committee , OUR elected officials, to explain to “we-the-people” why they decided to go ahead with this resolution. The people of OG have not been complaining of this. In the past the push to cancel the locks came from the Asburians who had ZERO reasons to change a Neptune policy which is in place for good reasons.
So what are the good reasons why the current Neptune Comedy jumped on this bandwagon of change now?
I demand that our elected officials present a written statement to Blogfinger so that I can publish a documented reason for this chicanery. Is there a cover-up here designed to distract the voting public? Tell us why they went ahead with worrying about security locks while failing to fix our rising taxes in Ocean Grove ? Are they trying to confuse us with smoke in our eyes?
i. Here is a copy of a quote from me in May, 2025:
“Today’s report (5/22/25). fails to explain why the Neptune Comedy decided to again bring up this sensible and long-lasting practice which was proven by the NTPD to reduce crime in the Grove.
“I want to know who is responsible for pouring gasoline on this controversy once again–it smells of political correctness. No one has mentioned it again since after the last go-around reported in 2019 in Blogfinger and another updated post in 2023.
“So now the Neptune Comedy one-party-rule punchline committee has found something to use to distract we-the-people. Once again they raise this issue to stir the pot and promote divisiveness. Blogfinger has previously found overwhelming support by Grovers for continuing this crime-containment program.
“Only the Asburians find this to be worrisome; Why?”
