Neptune Township should ban all giant events in Ocean Grove. These events in a tiny shore town are disruptive and inappropriate. Compare OG to other shore towns, and you won’t find this..
There is no reason why the “giant” flea markets cannot be held at the East Freehold Showgrounds instead of our residential shore community.
Their description is. “An 81-acre showground for horse shows, dog shows, and special events each year. East Freehold Showgrounds is also the home of the annual Monmouth County Fair, being held there for nearly 50 years--coming up this July.
Upwards of 75,000 people enjoy the 5-day late July event. Check the Monmouth County Fair page for more information regarding the Fair.
And speaking of the Giant Flea Market coming up on Sept 6, we will suffer another mob scene, and who benefits? This event is sponsored by the OG Chamber of Contrivance. It will grant thousands of tourists access to our town in order to hang out by the ocean and purchase from a wide selection of junk,
Meanwhile, “we the people”. (ie our residents, homeowners and limited visitors) will lose the chance to enjoy our town without the mob scene and parking glut.
September weather here would provide a happy setting for the locals to engage in family and local citizens’ events–such that would bring happiness to Grovers and their company.
BERNADETTE PETERS: Rodgers and Hammerstein wrote the score for the Broadway hit. “State Fair:”
