“Summer Wine ” was successfully recorded in 1968 by Nancy Sinatra and the composer of the song Lee Hazlewood
Lana del Rey made this video of “Summer Wine” in California in 2019. She appears with her Scottish boyfriend Barrie-James O’Neill, and if you listen carefully you can detect a bit of Billie Holiday and 007 at the end.
Her You-Tube video style is purposefully done as if some amateur were shooting it, but that is the desired effect, and I do like it very much.
This version was suggested by Stephen Goldfinger who is a big fan of Del Rey’s. It has a lovely melody and arrangement, and del Rey offers some provocative moments that help make it current.
