CMA activities for “Independence Weekend.” Saturday, July 5, 2025.

June 27, 2025 by Blogfinger

Blogfinger.net:

The CMA sponsors these events, not Neptune Township.  Most July 4 parades in NJ will be  held on July 4, but not here..

In fact Neptune has no July 4 parade.  They abdicate in favor of  the Camp Meeting Association. OG may be technically a part of Neptune, but in reality it is separate, and the play-acting needs to be acknowledged.

The Neptune Township Police  Facebook page says that this is the  “Neptune Township July 4 Parade.”

This description is on the Net:   “The Camp Meeting Association has begun planning for our Independence Parade. Our annual parade is an event symbolic of the rich tradition and customs that make Ocean Grove unique.”

This parade will be festive and happy and about our America,  but it should be called the  “Camp Meeting  Association Celebrating Ocean Grove  Independence  Parade.” And patriotism is not the main theme.

I guess if there is flag waving and acknowledging  the CMA’s America in this  parade, then calling this  “A CMA  Independence Parade in  Ocean Grove”  is appropriate, but leave Neptune out of the description. They are  almost totally excluded.

The concert that night is called a “patriotic band concert” but let’s see if the OG Summer Band actually does what’s promised.    Last July 4, 2024,  we had an incredible concert by the Imperial Brass  which was magnificent..   See the re-post  of 2024.  today 6/28.

And here’s the Blogfinger  review of what happened at that 2022 concert:

July 4, 2022 patriotic concert.

Sousa’s music  used to be performed  in the Grove by his military  band  but no longer.   Go see his portrait in the Historical Society of Ocean Grove on Pitman Ave.

Here is “The Washington Post March” from “Sousa’s Greatest Hits” by the US Marine Band.
