About 35 people showed up for the Home Groaners’ frittering meeting. 5/25/24. Mayor Tassie York is front and center. Committeemen are along for the ride. That is excellent! Paul Goldfinger photo from the ZOOM screen. How many Zoomers? They should say. Click to enlarge.

Mayor Tassie York sat quietly for this Saturday morning OGHOA get- together. She seems to be a kind and well meaning mayor, but she was not on the agenda. However she was permitted to make a brief statement at the end.
The Mayor said that we all have to work together for common causes and that she was not being political here. She doesn’t like “Next Door” and others like it as ways to communicate and she thinks that she and others have taken some bad raps by sniping comments on such sites.
She said that she is everyone’s mayor not preferentially for certain parts of town.
So today Tassie York wants everyone to know that “the Grove’s concerns are valid, and that Neptune Township cares about Grover issues .”
The Mayor says, “There is no shame in my game!” She also said, with a wink and a nod, that “parking is coming back.” She was previously supportive of sticker parking.
And she was not the only one at the meeting who said that the parking issue is not dead.
But then she came off the rails when she complained that certain “things get left out” at meetings such as this one. And to be specific she wanted to publicly praise “Neptune United” for opening the door to the beach on Sunday mornings.
Blogfinger comments 5/25/24:
However Mayor York is naive. “Neptune United” is profoundly political, so her praise puts her in their camp, and both she and they are Democrats.
But also, to praise “Neptune United” is to support their crude way of forcing themselves onto the beach on Sunday mornings, and that act is to reveal something about her. Not only because of her willingness now to step in and try to legitimize them, but doesn’t she, “everyone’s mayor,” not believe that the CMA also might be praised for their heartfelt desire to practice their religion? Isn’t she clergy in a Baptist church?
It is true that “Neptune United” did step forward over the Sunday morning beach issue, but that fuss over 3 hours on a Sunday summer morning, that most Grovers don’t care about, reveals the NU strategy to change the ways of life in the Grove, and York and most Grovers will undoubtedly be hearing more from them in the future, and that might be more alarming than just those 3 hours.
And the Mayor should not be so selective with her praise. She should hold her cards hidden so as not to find herself out on a limb.
How about the new community event “Art on the Porch?” And how about Blogfinger, a community initiative which has been providing news and activism since 2009; and what does she have to say about cleaning our lakes, shortage of toilets for tourists, flooding in the Grove; racial harmony for those who live in the Grove with African-Americans and Hispanics elsewhere in town—we don’t know them, and why not?
Here’s an idea to work on: Why doesn’t she step up and make sure that the African-American community in Neptune comes to the Grove for the July 4 parade and to visit our beaches this summer. And consider discounted beach badges for the poor.
Mayor York: Forget about Neptune United and open your eyes; there’s tastier fish to fry. And there is so much more.
As for the Home Groaners–their meeting was mostly a waste of time:
a. The North End issue continues to roll towards construction which will change the town. The OGHOA has done nothing admirable other than observing and it continues to shrug its shoulders over this.
b. Groaners want to have a fund raiser to collect boxer shorts and T shirts for the poor. Are you behind that?
c. HOA has 300 members in a town with a 3,000 census count and second homers in addition. Are you going to reach out to them? Blogfinger gets 400 hits every day, so maybe you should take a look at our message. Right now Neptune United will be lounging on the beach tomorrow, Sunday morning.
d. And Barbara Burns tried to explain the recent opening of the Sunday morning beach, but she failed to make it clear that the CMA is just allowing a temporary opening while it continues its fight for religious freedom in the courts. The HOA ignores important CMA issues, and they need a special committee just for that.
e. The Groaners brought in a self-help podcaster speaker to this meeting. What does such entertainment have to do with their “mission?” The HOA board needs a hobby.
f. Reminding people to vote. Send them a card.
g. Court case with OGNED and Neptune/HPC and new site plan. No mention. Let’s see that site plan. I’ll post it.
h. Pier concerns: no mention- Don’t they care?
i. OGHOA legal committee—accomplished nothing. Mail your explanations to the members. Grovers can read.
j. Outrageous local taxes with we the home-owners paying property taxes for the land which we don’t own. No mention.
k.. They have a new “Green Committee.” They want to make the town more “attractive” but how about our parks? This committee is poorly defined; do we really need a “green committee?” Who came up with this dopey idea? After all, it’s not easy being green.
l. How about the way the Neptune royalty treats we the serfs in the Grove? We need a new understanding with the Neptuners who charge us taxes but keep the best cuts of meat for the royal court in the Mother Ship.
BABY BABY—THE SUPREMES:
Mayor: Where Did Our Love Go?
2025 April notes: As you must know, the HOA has changed its name as if doing that will make a difference. They are the “OG Community Association,” but what is their definition of “community?” Lately they have been making some noise about the North End, but so far no results for we-the-people.
They are now accepting renters into their midst. It’s about time! They have removed “home owners” from their name, and their old definition and mission made some sense, alleging that they would do something about our lifestyles and home values. But now: duh! We did not hear the word “accomplishments” at their last meeting. Instead they explained how to maintain our gardens.
And fyi, the names of the Neptune Committee: Tassie York, Mayor Rob Lane, Jason Jones. (Who the Heck Avenue is he?); Derel Stroud, and Kevin Mc Millan. (He was previously dumped by the Neptune Dems but now he is back for a second jog around the block.)

EXCELLENT article. And, If those “sniping comments” are truthful, apparently, York and others can’t handle the heat in the kitchen as mayor
a. Room was packed 75+ attended.
b. Jersey Shore Rescue Mission stated their most-needed items were boxers and t-shirts.
c. incorrect numbers on oghoa membership
Editor’s Note:
a. We reported on the existence of the T-shirt and boxer fund raiser. The group can promote it.
b. HOA membership? If we heard the number wrong, why not tell us your name so we can know if you are credible and then send us the correct number. We want the facts.
Blogfinger had 522 hits yesterday and we never receive information from the HOA to help with fact checking.
c. As far as how many attended the meeting, look at our photo of the meeting and estimate the attendance. That’s what we did.
d. This HOA commenter also sent us some insults which we edited out. Personal attacks are not allowed on Blogfinger.
