From the OGCMA promo: “Need new coasters? Some earrings or necklace? Maybe a new painting? Then come join us at the Giant Craft Show down the historic Ocean Pathway Saturday, June 21st from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M.”
Why should the citizens of Ocean Grove have to experience this sort of tourism on one of the most wonderful Saturdays of the year? Let us enjoy our town without the swarm of tourists and their parked cars.
Who benefits beside the sellers who are largely from out of town, tourists, and the CMA. It is an entire day which offers nothing that benefits the people of Ocean Grove.
Most shore towns do not have such “Giant” events. Just look at places like Bradley Beach or even Asbury Park, and we are one of the smallest shore towns.
This event is being held on CMA land which is officially treated as a public thoroughfare. Yet Neptune awards permits for such happenings. Neptune Township often shows favoritism to the CMA by allowing such crowded nonsense, by tax favoritism. (see Neptune United’s reports on this), and by ignoring Ocean Grove as they plan public events sponsored by the town in other districts of the town.
