“Hey Peach” at 126 Main Street in Bradley Beach. Paul Goldfinger photo. 3/28/25 I chopped off the end as soon as I got home and added a schmear of butter.
Erin and James Kilker are the Grover bakers whose new shop is attracting lines. We have been posting portraits of their amazing baked goods here on Blogfinger. Their sourdough breads are a particularly marvelous example. Try their croissants, cream puffs and other pastries including the Pain Suisse which contains chocolate and cream.
This sourdough baguette has their trademark wonderful crust. It is delicious
James is the bread baker, and he and Erin have developed exciting yeast cultures. If you buy one of their breads you can slice it and then freeze it, taking out a slice at a time. You don’t have to wrap each slice for freezing.
“Wonderful food is nourishment for the body and the soul. ” Paul Goldfinger.
My Dad was a child of the Depression, and he always insisted that we eat bread with dinner. He said it was “the staff of life.” But I knew that he wanted to fill us up before the meat was served.
“Food is art and food is love.” Mark Bittman.
Jewish mothers are said to offer love by offering food. When my mom made her famous mushroom barley soup with flanken, I knew that she was giving love.
Erin and James at” Hey, Peach” are like that: go there and say hello; they will pop out from the bakery in the back with a big smile and gratitude for those who try their foods.
