I wanted to see Noah finally smile. But, this past week, all we got were some brief small smiles. So I decided to tell him a joke. Henny Youngman might work in this 7 week old.
So I said to Noah, “Take my wife please.” And this was the reaction. What a break! I can use all my old jokes on little Noah. Next I plan to try, “That was no lady, that was my wife.”
And speaking of the grandma/wife, she, I, and Noah were in our living room. All of a sudden, a soft passing of gas could be heard–yes, it was a tiny fart. I looked up and said to Eileen, “Did Noah do that?” She took offense at my innocent question and, using her own nonverbal communication, gave me a look….. Oh well, some people have no sense of humor.
Right Noah? I want to train you to be a straight man once you can speak. We’ll wean you on Jackie Mason.
DAVID GILMOUR with a song called “Smile.” Noah, this is a sort of lullaby. Play it softly and drift off to sleep.
