A sunny, cold day at the Ocean Grove beach. Coots in the water.

It was about 20 degrees this afternoon  January 22, 2025 when our reporter Stephen Goldfinger walked his dog Pooja to the OG beach . It was like a frozen wasteland. Only one other person was there, a Grover who lives near the beach.  Since the sea breeze was still and the sun was shining, it didn’t seem to be uncomfortable.

In the water was a vast flock of birds.  Stephen couldn’t identify them, but the other man said that they were probably “coots.”
