Festhalle Biergarten will never reopen.

The building was in bad shape due to prior water damage.  Then there was flooding in September 2023 resulting in shutting down of the business.  The cost to fix the property was substantial, and there were insurance issues.

And aside from the infrastructure challenges, the owner wanted to increase the rent substantially.

So the Biergarten business is now permanently closed at this location.  That’s unfortunate because it was a popular venue for Cookman visitors to get a snack, a beer,  or go to the popular upstairs roof setting for live music.

We liked to walk over for fish and ships, but the last time we went, the fish and chips were off the menu—a worrisome sign.

I liked to photograph this location in various lights, usually from the Ocean Grove side or along the Wesley Lake bridge to A. Park.
