An almost white Christmas…

December 21, 2024 by Blogfinger

Interlaken, New Jersey Saturday, December 21, 2024. Paul Goldfinger photo. iPhone 13 pro.

I left our home at 8 am and found snow on the ground. Even though the snowfall was paltry, it fit into the Christmas spirit where indicators can be found all over….except no snow until now.

I brushed the snow off the car windows.  The temperature was only 32 degrees; barely cold enough to keep the thin layer of snow intact. As I drove  into  Interlaken on the way to “Hot Bagel” in Oakhurst, I stopped to view and photograph  a familiar site: the Allenurst water tower across the Deal Lake extension.

Hanukkah is spelled with an H most often, which is how I do it, but Eileen prefers Chanukah.  She doesn’t know why.  Evidently Jesus celebrated this holiday; according to Google.

“Yes, Jesus celebrated Hanukkah, also known as the Feast of Dedication as recorded in the New Testament:

  • John 10:22: Jesus traveled from Galilee to Jerusalem to celebrate Hanukkah in the temple in Jerusalem. “

This year Hannukah begins on Christmas Day–a rare concurrence.

Here’s Kenny Ellis from his album “Hanukkah Swing.”

And here is the Dave Brubeck Quartet with Paul Desmond on alto sax:  “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” From the album Jingle Bell Jazz.
