Saturday July 20, 2024. Market reopens.
Paul Goldfinger, Editor, Blogfinger.net.
We saw no announcement. I rode by yesterday and saw it was open. They are always excellent.
Below is a Blogfinger post from last July 29, 2023.
We will get over there, but go yourself next week. Parking is not a problem. The location is in the park at Sunset and Main in A. Park.
And don’t forget the excellent A. Park market on Sundays across from the Episcopal church with red doors near the end of Cookman.

All photos by Paul Goldfinger. A good crowd had assembled by 9 am including this Jersey tomato, but parking was easy. The young man working in the back told his friend, “I don’t eat salads or vegetables; I’m a meat guy.” 7/29/23. Click on photos to enlarge images.
It’s good to come to this market early on Saturdays. (Sunset Ave. at Main St. Asbury Park) It has been present for 20 years. They will be open until Thanksgiving.
I came by at 8 am, and that was good, but some vendors weren’t ready then. At 9 am the ever popular Italian baker from Paterson showed up, and a line formed immediately. It’s not just excellent Italian breads; it’s also cheeses and the unique stuffed breads which were eliciting oohs and aahs.
The Jersey corn is excellent. I tried both corn and tomatoes today. Several vendors were showing fresh picked produce.

2023 prices: Checking out the tomatoes. $2.99 per pound for tomatoes is comparable to Wegmans, but Delicious Orchards is more. Another farmer here is selling them for $2.00 each. Blogfinger.net. I bought two, and they are quite good, but maybe even better in 2 weeks and maybe cheaper. (supply vs. demand at these prices??)
7/22/24: Below: This tomato is a Canadian beefsteak for $1.69. But we haven’t had much luck with these. The Jerseys peak in August, but we plan to visit Matt’s in Belmar.

Wegmans. Ocean. 7/22/24. $1.69. Once they peak in Jersey we should have them into October. Blogfinger photo.

Children enjoy the market. Fresh Picked Farm .This farmer from E. Windsor said that the Jersey tomato crop is huge, even here in July. Usually we have to wait till August-September.Blogfinger.net
A farmer was set up under a big tree. Elaine says that she is a “small farmer” but actually she seems tall enough. She has some special items including herbs, flavored vinegars, chocolate chip cookies, and other special treats. Her farm is called Shangri La. ( “A land of bluebirds and fountains and nothing to do.”)
One man stopped me and asked where the key lime pies were. I’ve never seen that there, but he was sad that no one had any. I directed him to the cookie lady from Shangri-La, and he seemed pleased.
